People seek therapy for many reasons and for some reaching out for help can feel intimidating. It is not uncommon to encounter uncertainty about sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a stranger. If you are grappling with some of these concerns, I want you to know that I believe trust to be essential in therapy and I will work patiently with you at your pace. Others may consider themselves “an open book.” In either case, I prioritize your comfort and use my natural warmth, empathy, and curiosity to build our therapeutic alliance.
I provide services to adults 18 years of age and older, and to couples. My initial consultation with prospective clients is conducted via telephone free of charge. During this conversation, we will briefly discuss your concerns and what you are looking for in a therapist. Provided I have the competencies to meet your needs and we decide that I may be a good fit, an initial in-person session will be scheduled.. Our first few sessions will be used to better understand your concerns, history, and initial treatment goals. Our initial time together will also be used to review office policies and to orient you to my therapeutic process. If at any point during our time together I determine you would be better served by another provider, I will help facilitate the referral process. I typically meet with clients once per week for 50-minute sessions. However, session length and frequency may be adjusted based on your needs.
